Business Systems Technology at Lewisburg

   Business Systems Technology is an exciting and information packed program that incorporates the technological skills of today with the administrative skills of the past. The program begins with core skills to help build your effectiveness and confidence. As you reach the third and final trimester, you are able to choose from five different specialized diplomas. This allows you to build and customize basic skills to fit different settings: such as, a doctor's office or lawyer's office. In addition to on campus classes, Business Systems Technology is also offered online. This gives greater flexibility to those who currently hold jobs.

   The business Systems Technology Program is constantly striving to improve and update its program to better serve the students and community. The BST program has a current completion rate of 57% and a placement rate of 75%. We are continually working with community and business contacts in an effort to improve these numbers. The program has a great set of advisory committee members that continually offer advice on behalf of their businesses and the community. In addition, we strive to keep working relationship with area schools as a method of recruitment.

BST Programs

   All of our diplomas consist of 1296 clock hours. The program is divided into 3 trimesters, where each trimester is 432 clock hours. Each of the first two levels will earn you a certificate and the third and final level will earn you a diploma in one of the following five areas:

* Accounting Assistant Diploma

My name is Christa Simmons and I am the BST instructor for the Lewisburg Extension Campus.  I hold a Bachelors Degree in Business, I graduated from Martin Methodist College and Master of Education in Adult Education and Distance Learning from the University of Phoenix.  In addition, I am MOS certified in Word, Excel, and Power Point, all courses which are taught in the program. Through both my educational experiences and hands-on, job related experience, I feel I can offer a lot to the students in the BST program.  In addition to teaching on campus, I also teach an online class for the BST program. It was a good experience to be part of the development and teaching during the implementation phase of the online program.  It is my hope to offer a good quality education and experience to the students in the program.  For any question you may have please e-mail me at christa.simmons@pulaski.tec.tn.us
