The Computer Operating Systems & Network Technology Program at Pulaski began as a Consumer and communications Electronics Program but evolved into the Computer Operating Systems & Network Technology program that is dedicated to Computer and Network servicing, maintenance, repair, installation and upgrade. The Computer Operating Systems & Network Technology curriculum is based on a path that leads to CompTIA (Computing Technology Industry Association) A+ and Network+ Certification. CompTIA is the organization that sponsors the A+ and Network+ Certification, a non-profit organization made up of individuals from various large companies (IBM, AT&T, USAirways, Packard Bell etc.). More than 6,000 computer resellers, VARs, distributors, manufactures and training companies in the United States and Canada belong to CompTIA. Reseller members, who form the heart of the Association, run the gamut from single location systems integrators to nationwide franchise groups. Through a series of suggested courses, the curriculum develops the knowledge and skills needed to secure good jobs and to succeed in today's IT (Information Technology) marketplace. The Computer Operating Systems &Network Technology program offers one diploma and three certificates. The diploma program is 1728 hours in length and is completed in four trimesters and requires A+ and Network+ ComTIA Certification. The first certificate is granted after completion of the first two courses in the Network+ curriculum and the other two certificates are granted in succeeding trimesters provided the student has met all requirements for that particular certificate. Students are eligible for a two to four week internship after completion of the second trimester.
