Jeremy Ballentine, a Heating, Ventilating, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology student at TTC Pulaski was unanimously elected National Vice President for SkillsUSA at a recent conference in Leesburg, VA.  Jeremy was elected at large at the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City, MO in June and this final office designation was determined earlier this month.

Jeremy began his involvement with SkillsUSA in May of 2011 after becoming the Chapter President at TTC Pulaski.  He went on to compete in the State Leadership and Skills Conference in Chattanooga, where he achieved the Bronze medal in HVACR.  He was selected to represent Tennessee as a National delegate at this conference.  His hard work and dedication resulted in being elected to National Officer status in Kansas City.  Additionally, Jeremy was elected to the Chairmanship of the SkillsUSA Joint Legislative Committee where he will be reporting to the SkillsUSA executive council on the status of both secondary and post-secondary SkillsUSA activities.

SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations including health occupations.  It is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce.  SkillsUSA helps each student excel.

More than 300,000 students and advisors join SkillsUSA annually, organized into more than 17,000 sections and 54 state and territorial associations.  Combining alumni and lifetime membership, the total number impacted is more than 320,000. SkillsUSA has served more than 10.5 million members.

SkillsUSA offers advanced training for students and advisors that focuses on the skills needed to be champions at work, in the communities and in their personal lives.  It’s known as the Washington Leadership Training Institute (WLTI).  In September, Jeremy will be returning to the Washington D.C. area to attend this leadership training which focuses on developing advanced leadership, citizenship and employability skills.

TTC Pulaski and Jeremy would like to graciously thank all of our supporters who have made generous donations to the Technology Center Foundation.  These donations will be so helpful to Jeremy in helping him with the expenses of this September conference.  Jeremy appreciates the donations that were sent from First National Bank, Mr. and Mrs. Hardin Franklin, the Bank of Frankewing, Pulaski-Giles County Economic Development Council, Pulaski Electric System, and the Technology Center for their support and confidence in him as a student and a future leader of our community.  If you would like to support Jeremy in this endeavor and its expenses, you may contact the Tennessee Technology Center Pulaski for additional information.

Due to his HVACR training at TTCP and his involvement with SkillsUSA, Jeremy has already started his own HVACR business, 911 Heating & Cooling in Pulaski, and continues to be active in his church, his school and our community.

We, at Tennessee Technology Center Pulaski are very proud of Jeremy Ballentine and his numerous accomplishments.  Our community is fortunate to have individuals with Jeremy’s desire to serve his fellow students, neighbors and the citizens of Pulaski, TN and our country.
